What makes a great instagram post?

I always try to chose the art I post on instagram carefully. There is a ton of it available on the Internet, but unless you actually spend a lot of time searching for it, the really amazing stuff can be difficult to find.

So when I am looking for stuff to post, the artwork really has to stand out - initially to me. Then I have to consider whether others will find it equally excellent. So what do I look for?

First, the image really has to 'pop' in some way. Usually the choice of colours, the art style and what is actually in the picture are the biggest factors. Is it something so well done that it just must be shared with fellow fans? Is there that shine and polish that really sets it apart?

Also, believe it or not, artwork of female characters usually (but not always) yield the highest number of likes. Usually you can tell when the art you have selected to post hits the 'like jackpot' almost right away. Literally seconds after posting it you'll have received a dozen or more likes.

Above all, when I am looking for stuff to post, it has to be something that speaks to me. I know that sounds sort of artsy fartsy, but it's true. I have to love the picture for me to post it.

So for those of you that have ever wondered how I chose the art that makes it to my instagram, this is usually my thought process. Sure, I want more followers and likes, but I also really genuinely love sharing the awesome art that is out there.

If you have some wow art (or anything geeky that you think I will love) please include me in your post, either by tagging me or adding me to your comments!

What is some of your favororite wow or geek art?

Why do you play World of Warcraft?

Why do you play World of Warcraft? Is it a longing to be part of a different world unlike our own? Is it the setting and the characters in game that you love interacting with? is it the sprawling vistas or  the other-worldly magic that draws you in?

For me, playing World of Warcraft, or any game for that matter, is part escape and part desire to be someone I am not. Obviously, I am not a female Night Elf Druid, but part of me has fun playing as one. I'm sure there are some that would ask why I chose to play as a female character (and that's perhaps an idea for a future post) but that's what is great (at least for me) about Warcraft or video games in general - the ability to do things you just can't do in real life.

I've met some great people while playing the game - some of which I speak to outside of the game. This is another great benefit to these persistent online worlds. The social aspect for those that don't have the time (or simply have forgotten how to) meet new friends in the real world. By default you have a common interest without even having to break the ice. Often times you need to work together  to accomplish a task and in the process build trust and friendship.

I've always been curious about people that play this game and what path brought them to it and what their experiences have been like. So why not share yours in the comments below? Let me know why you play World of Warcraft.

My new blog!

I recently rediscovered instagram and the fun that can be had with the nifty little app, and with the rise of the number of followers that I have received on the service, I thought it might be fun to write a small blog about what I post to my IG account and what I am doing in my life.

I love blogs like that - ones where you can read about someone you don't know 'in real life' and get to know them through what they blog about. Some are interesting, some are boring, but all allow you a glimpse into the life of a stranger, and this is what I will do for those that chose to follow me on Instagram - if they so chose.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love World of Warcraft. I also love the art work that the community has created about this universe. It's fantasy, which i enjoy, blended with an art style that I truly enjoy experiencing.

There are other things about me as well that I am sure you will come to learn if you continue to follow me on IG and even more so here.

So please, come by here often and read my ramblings about Warcraft, Video Games, Movies, gadgets, and stuff like that. Feel free to comment on whatever you see here, and I promise I will always reply to your comment as long as I see it.

Thanks for stopping in!
